Tsinandali Estate, Radisson Collection Hotel
This resort is located in eastern Georgia’s wine-producing region, in the Kakheti area, near the town of Telavi. The resort is set in a historical environment; in the 19th century, Prince Alexander Chavchavadze, who transformed his home into a cultural centre, was active in the region. The Prince was a well-known and significant figure in eastern Georgia. He was a winemaker, poet, businessman, soldier, and a key contributor to the movement known as Georgian Romanticism. Georgian Romanticism was primarily a literary movement influenced by both Eastern and Western cultures, and it reflected the social conditions in Georgia. Tsinandali Estate has been built in this cultural environment, honouring its rich history.

High-standard resort with quality services
Tsinandali Estate is a very high-standard resort that comprises two hotels, holiday residences, restaurants, conference facilities, a spa, a vineyard, and a wide range of sports opportunities. The resort is surrounded by an 18-hectare well-maintained park featuring over 1,600 different, even exotic, plants. The hotel offers rooms of various categories, all of a good standard. We were on a tour of eastern Georgia and unfortunately had limited time to explore this wonderful hotel and its gardens. I stayed in a fairly spacious Superior room with a terrace. On either side of the terrace were the terraces of neighbouring rooms, and there was another building opposite, so the terrace was mainly suitable for smoking.

Excellent breakfast
We had dinner in the hotel restaurant. Apart from our group, there was only one other party present, and very few staff. The waiter was inexperienced, service and food preparation were slow, and overall the dinner experience felt rather lacklustre. Breakfast, however, was a different story, there was plenty of staff, a wide selection, and above all, the food on offer was excellent. Breakfast can be enjoyed either in the beautiful dining hall or outside in the inner courtyard.

If you're exploring eastern Georgia’s wine region, Tsinandali Estate is a good place to stay. The resort has a very pleasant rooftop swimming pool area, it’s not to be missed.
